Monthly Obsessions #1

Hey huns! 
So this month has gone SO quick! Its nearly Easter and next thing you know, BAM summer exams. Uh oh.
Anyway, I haven't had many beauty favourites this month to be totally honest, (probably doesn't help that I had so many last month...) but as far as YouTubers, books and movies go, I have had a lot. 

Beauty

First is They're Real mascara by Benefit. I have more than likely mentioned this in previous favourites post, but I have fallen back in love with this mascara! I need to get a big one, because all I have are two mini ones. I find the smaller ones are hard to use if I'm totally honest.

Again, probably mentioned in a post before (I'm not really original this month - the downside of not going to superdrug) but this is the Urban Decay matte eyeshadow in "Naked". This is handy for school which is my main reason for including it.

I included the caramel cream one of the nivea lip butters in last months favourites. I bought the Vanilla and Macedamia one on St Patricks day and OhEmGod. Smells amazing! The caramel one can leave a bit of a white colour to your lips if you put on too much, but other than that, its light and is great for moisturising your lips.

Random

So first we have those portable cup things. They keep your tea warm for over half an hour which is great because I drink about 6 cups of tea a day... Next we have a pink pen. I love love love pink and writing in pink makes me happy. :) nuff said.

And then we have a mockingjay pin which I got last year but have fallen back in love with. Its just like Katniss' in the Hunger Games.

Movies

I love this movie. It's full of action and drama and was just fun to watch! Its on sky movies at the minute, so if you have movies, you should watch it!

I read the book series 3 times and watched the movie a bagillion times (thats more that a kabillion) and I am falling back in love with it again. I'm reading the books once more and watched the movies 3 times over the holidays. I can't wait for Catching Fire (out November 22) and if you haven't read the books, you should. I find that if you didn't read the books, you might be a bit confused. I saw it when it first came out with my friends and they kept asking what was going on throughout. And because of reading the books so many times, I understood it.

A quick shoutout

There is a new blogger called Sophie whose blog is converseobsession11 and I'm sure it would make her day if you checked out her blog! She does posts on beauty, hauls etc. so it really is worth reading.

Operation Inspiration!

Hey huns!
Lately I have been reading quotes and alot of them made me feel good and gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling haha! So I decided to make a quote collage for that little bit of inspiration. All you need is coloured card/paper, scissors, glue and quotes!

You just cut around the quotes, glue them down and now you have a quote collage! I'm sticking it up on my wall. :)

Evening Sun

I have found that the evening sun produces the best pictures!  I don't know what it is, but it makes me love the photos 100 times more.  I have been learning a lot about what looks good and what doesn't when taking pictures for the blog.  A lot of times, the brightness of the earlier-in-the-day sun will "brighten out" certain things like the light blue design on a white shirt....making it look only white.  While the evening sun makes me look tanner, makes my skin look clearer, and my outfits look better.  I still take pictures when I get the opportunity, regardless of the time of day.  Oh, and don't get me started on night pictures....they never do an outfit justice.  I know that would seem obvious, and you can get clear pictures at night....they just don't look as good to me.  BTW-I am definitely no expert....so this is not, by any means, expert advice.  What is your favorite time of day to take photos?

Hey huns!
Dr Kate back with another post! So today it's friendships. 

Maybe some of you have that one friend that you can spend so much time with, not run out of stuff to talk about and never, EVER fight. Grand & righty-o, no need to give advice on that.

Next we have those friends that are good friends, but you can fight and when you fight, its bad. We all have those days. I know it's hard, but try and talk it out, say how you feel, especially if that friend means something. If they don't want to talk to you, then let them mellow for a bit, calm down, think it through, then try again. Or get a friend to pass the message on. Whatever works.

We also have the "friends" that only go to you & act friendly when they need homwork or whatever. When this happens to me, I say no. End of. Because if you don't alot of the time you wind up being their go to gal for homework. You're better than someone that can just be used for school work.

Ex-best friends. A lot of us have one, sadly. So it will be awkward in the hall, but everyone does move on.

Easter Collab

Hey huns!
So Grace, Gaby, Jane and I are doing an Easter collab! It's sort of like a short series of posts to do with Easter hair, makeup, nails & outfits. We  all have a set day ( mine being the first ) so make sure to check out their blogs on their days which I will post below. :)

Originally, it had been one set thing each, but then we all agreed we would do more than one, so I chose hair and outfit! For the hair, I decided to do a fishtail braid but it was to hard to photograph. Instead, I did a quick video. (whether or not it works is another thing, so there's a photo underneath)

For the otfit I was inspired by soft colours for spring and Easter. For some reason, the colour cream and lace just scream spring to me. Its a very casual look that can be dressed up with a pair of heels and straight hair. ( well I think so )

Movie Inspired Make-Up

Hey huns!
This will be the first of some movie inspired makeup tutorials. The first one is an Effie Trinket inspired tutorial (don't ask why). Played by Elizabeth Banks, Effie is the escort for the District 12 tributes, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. I was a little obsessed with the books and then the movie came out... I saw it three times in the cinema, and have watched it many times on DVD too. A "little obsessed" is a bit of an understatement... Anyway on with the tutorial.

And may the odds be ever in your favour!

First I applied my MAC lipstick in Milan Mode then my Revlon lip butter in Sweet tart.

I then put on some of my Catrice eyeshadow (i know, but I don't have any gold lipstick - do you?) at the inner part of my lips which gives the sort of lips Effie has in the movie.

So that is it m'dears! It was fun, easy and quick to do.
